Hoop and the Ball !

Simpler the sport, more is the fan following since it is understood and can be played by many. Such is a game of basketball. It consists of two teams with 5 players on the court who can substitute as required. The goal is to get the ball through a hoop and distance between the person when he throws the ball and the hoop have different points such as the 1 pointer, 2 pointer and 3 pointer. The farther the person is from the hoop, the more the points as it is not easy to score from a farther distance. Basketball is pretty popular in the U.S since it was there the sport started to be played out. It is usually a ticket to colleges for the high school basketball players since they get a scholarship based on their talents. It is from the college games, the players are scouted by various NBA teams. The NBA consists of 30 teams, 29 from the U.S and 1 from Canada. The most famous teams and the most successful are the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs. Basketball players have also become huge celebrities, such as the likes of Michael Jordan and in recent past players like Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.

The world of boxing

Boxing existed from the time of the Greeks. It is a combat sport, where people of similar weight, fight against each other with fists.

The first time I came across the sport was through the famous movie starring Sylvester Stallone as and in "Rocky". Even to this date, the movie reminds us of a fighter, not only in the ring but in life too.

There are 3 ways to win at boxing, the first is a knockdown where the opponent is knocked down and is unable to get up within 10 seconds. The second is a technical knockout where the opponent ends up being injured and finally if the fight continues till the last round and both the fighters are on their feet, the match is decided by a scorecard produced by the referee and the judges.

One of the greats of boxing is Muhammad Ali. He was crowned as the "sportsman of the century" in 1999 by sports illustrated. He was also ranked number 1 in a 1998 ranking as the world's greatest heavyweights. The match against Chuck Wepner was the actual inspiration for the "Rocky" movie. It showed the resilience of Wepner till the 15th round and also knocking down Ali in 9th round.

Sports and the ancient world

Man's competitive spirit always needs an outlet. In the earlier days it was primarily vented through wars and battles but sport slowly started bringing about a constructive way to use that energy and urge. Many of the sports played today are mostly altered versions of sports which were played in the past. For example, we can take the marathon. As the story goes, Pheidippides, a Greek messenger, ran all the way from a town called marathon to Athens to announce they were victorious in the battle of marathon against the Persians. Sadly he collapsed and died after announcing they had won. The course he ran was around 26.2 miles (42 kilometers) which is what our modern athletes run during a marathon.

Likewise, many sports and sporting events can be traced back to thousands of years. The Olympics which is such a grand event in modern times represents the best from different countries was actually borrowed from the Greeks who used to conduct it since 776 B.C.

Also another interesting game was the mayan ball which was a combination of football and basketball. This game had great reverence among the people and was usually attended by thousands. Ironically, in this game the winners were sacrificed to the Gods instead of being rewarded because the mayans believed they were offering the best sacrifice possible.
Sports has shaped mankind in many ways and will continue to do in the future.

Roughest game in the world

One of the most dangerous and exciting sport which I have come across is rugby. It was developed from the game football. It is a very common game played in many of the western countries. The game had its origin from the United Kingdom. It is a national sport in New Zealand, South Africa and Wales. The players are very strong and are known for their strength. The players wear a well protected suit in order to prevent further injuries during the game. Unlike other ball games, rugby is all about the ball which is almost oval in shape.

The game involves in passing the ball forward either by running with the ball or kicking the ball. A team may have either thirteen or fifteen members each. The players need to run with the ball or pass it by kicking. Players should make sure of their possession. In order to get the possession of the ball, the players run behind the person of the opposite team. Line out is the place where players arrange themselves paralleling to the perpendicular touch line and from there, they try to catch the ball.

This game is played in many countries and many people are fond of such a wild game. The players need to follow rules and regulations to play the sport. They should make sure that they are safe while playing the game.

Life is only once and we should enjoy it to the fullest. We should not waste any part of it. We should try to participate in all the activities which will help to lead a wonderful life with complete satisfaction. Indulging in sports activities is the best way to keep oneself occupied. Basketball is the best game that is famous world wide and helps us to be in motion always.

Basket ball is a game that involves two teams with five members each. The main aspect of the game is dribbling, passing and shooting the ball. The players are supposed to follow certain rules and regulations to play the game in a systematic manner. Basketball is a game that sees to physical aspect also. The tall player will be placed in the center position. Height is a major advantage of this game as it involves in shooting the ball through a ten feet high loop goal. The team which scores the maximum points will be considered the winner. Points are scored by passing the ball through the goal.

Position of the players also plays a very important role in the game. It is the popular game in many of the countries.

Athletics is a skill

Every individual in this world would love to live a long life. The best way to keep oneself going without any ailments in health will be to cut down unwanted activities and get involved in activities that will enhance your physical strength. A sport is one of the sources to cut down unwanted fat in our body and get ourselves placed in positions that we desire.

Athletics is a mixture of sports activities. This requires a lot of practice, physical fitness and concentration. Athletics include running, jumping and throwing. There are many young talents around who are very good at running without much of practice. If these children are trained and practiced in a proper manner, they will ensure us a great reach in Olympics and other games conducted world wide.

Both track and field events are a part of athletics. Indoor and outdoor athletics are there depending upon the seasons involved. The major component of athletics is the ground that is required to conduct both track and field events. Sprints, long distance events, short distance events, hurdles and relay races are the main event in running. Throwing, jumping and multiple events are the main events in field athletics. Every talent should be recognized and encouraged in a proper manner according to their efficiency.
